Dear fabulous families,
This week:
* We got some new postcards. This week our postcards came from Maryland, U.S.A., Belarus (in Europe) and Michigan, U.S.A. We sent postcards to Slovenia and Taiwan. Last week we got a postcard from L.S. grandmother in Osaka Japan and T.N.'s Auntie in Yellowknife.
* Yesterday we watched the movie The One and Only Ivan. At the movie we could have blankets, stuffies, pillows and snacks. Most people liked the movie better than the book. Lots of people liked both.
* On Wednesday Ms. Glover came in and did storymaking with us. She gave us lots of random pieces of stuff and we had to make up a story with it.
* In music we were practicing our song for next week's assembly.
* In stem we used blocks to try and make triangles. We made a big triangle with a bunch of little triangles.
* On Halloween we started a stem challenge. You had specific supplies and you had to make a structure that could hold a bunch of skeletons and pumpkins.
* On Halloween we made spider cupcakes. We decorated the cupcake with frosting, sprinkles (for fur), smarties (for eyes) and licorice (for the legs).
* This week we learned a few new writing tips. For example, stories have characters, settings and problems. You could use any of these things to make an interesting story.
* Last Friday we had I.S-H.'s birthday. For gym she chose a lot of running games. We were VERY tired. For her book she chose The Tub People.
* In gym this week we did Diamond Tag, Zombie Tag, throwing practice, skittles, and calm bodies.
* In science we learned facts about two ecosystems named Antarctica and Grasslands. In grasslands there are many different types of flowers (there are hardly any trees) and many types of animals live there. One of the animals is called a bison. It looks kind of like a bull.
From,
Mrs. Marta's talented and grateful grade 2/3 class
