Dear fabulous families,
This week:
* We started a life cycle project. You get to choose an animal and do research. Next week we are going to use Book Creator to make books.
* We have been practicing for our winter concert that is in two weeks.
* In Social Studies this week we have been learning about Vietnam. We learned that they make art with eggshells, sand and mud. People in Vietnam ride more motorcycles than cars. People in Vietnam have soup for breakfast every day. There are 97 million people that live in Vietnam. Traditionally, Vietnamese people wear hats that are shaped like a cone.
Some customs in Vietnam are that you can not touch anyone's head and you can't refuse a gift. Another custom is that you also need to pass things to people with two hands. Another custom is that you don't start eating until the oldest person at the table starts eating.
* This week we got five postcards! They are from: Germany, Hong Kong, Spain, U.S.A. and the Netherlands. The one from the Netherlands had 6 mini Christmas Cards in it.
* In Gym today we did stations. The stations were hoops, balls, skipping ropes and scoops.
* In Art we made snowmen and showed what they do at night. Ask me what my snowman was doing!
* This week we did GoNoodle. We really like the Roar! one. We pick it all the time.
* We learned about some different types of sentences. We did some short one word sentences like hi, hello, stop or bonjour. We also did some list sentences. Here is an example: We think you are fantastic, caring, fabulous, sparkling and amazing.
* In Science we learned about things that eat plants and things that eat animals. We learned the words decomposer, producer and consumer. The decomposer was gross. We saw a dung beetle eating poop.
We hope you have a fabulous day and a special weekend!
From,
Mrs. Marta's shining, hard-working, fabulous grade 2/3 class
